Al-Futtaim Logistics is proud to announce that it has won a major new project with Volvo Trucks, Sweden to handle the shipping of heavy trucks and trailers from Dubai into Ethiopia over the coming months.
As a fourth party lead logistics (4PL) provider, Al-Futtaim Logistics will manage the eight parties involved in this project, and coordinate a shipment which will finally contain a total of over 1,000 pieces. Trucks originating from FAMCO in the UAE will be supplemented by additional trucks being imported into Dubai from Volvo Sweden and Saudi Arabia, before modification and/or fit out with custom built trailers, also manufactured in Dubai. Al-Futtaim Logistics is tasked with the responsibility of managing the complex inbound flows into a smooth and timely consolidated outbound delivery flow into Ethiopia.
The equipment is destined for the Derba Cement company in Ethiopia, in time for use at a new production facility due for completion later this year. Volvo will also aid the company as it increases it production capacity by providing transport competence development, build a service organisation, and a spare parts supply system.
Tom Nauwelaerts, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Logistics said "We are especially pleased to have won this project as it was the result of a joint proposal with our sister company, FAMCO, who recognised the opportunity to introduce and position us as the ideal partner for this project."
