Al-Futtaim Logistics achieves Dangerous Goods Acceptance Certification

Al-Futtaim Logistics is proud to announce that it has achieved Dangerous Goods Acceptance Certification from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. The company's air freight division, based in Dubai Cargo Village adjacent to Dubai International Airport is now fully certified to handle transportation of dangerous goods by air and dedicated, trained and qualified associates will manage this operation.

Dangerous goods are articles or substances which are capable of posing a risk to health, safety, property or the environment. International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air and International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations provide internationally agreed standards and practices on the preparation and handling of dangerous goods so that they can be safely transported by air. If a dangerous goods consignment does not meet all of the applicable requirements stipulated by the regulations, this can present a serious risk to the safety of the aircraft, passengers, crew, ground staff and the environment. It is also a criminal offence to accept for carriage or to carry dangerous goods which are in breach of these regulations.

This certification is yet another milestone achieved by Al-Futtaim Logistics in 2012, as part of the company's 'Continual Improvement' initiative and is a valuable addition that enhances its service offering to help to deliver solutions to its customers.
