On 3rd March, Al-Futtaim Logistics' Health & Safety and Environment (HSE) department held a planned routine fire evacuation drill at one of its largest retail warehouse premises in Dubai Industrial City (DIC), Phase One. The drill was conducted in coordination and in the presence of DIC Authority, TECOM, Dubai Holding, Dubai Civil Defence, Dubai Ambulance and Dubai Police.
The emergency drill exercise saw the orderly evacuation of 31 personnel covering 40 warehouse chambers to a designated safe assembly point within four minutes, in an imaginary scenario as if there were fire exposure and one on site injury.
The drill was conducted to increase awareness among the associates, and to test the emergency response plans implemented on site, Fire Marshalls and First Aiders and the business continuity model. Following the drill, the site has been certified by Dubai Civil Defence as a successful 'risk free site'. For continual improvement, Heba Kamal, Facilities, HSE & Security Manager and the HSE team are analysing the fire drill report, with the aim of improving the efficiency of this vital process even further by pinpointing and implementing potential measures, such as advanced emergency preparedness programmes, to continue to maintain the site as a 'risk free site'.
Al-Futtaim Logistics would like to thank everyone on site, including employees, visitors, and the key stakeholders for their efforts in achieving a successful outcome.
